Foggy Morning

Today was a
Fog Day!
In Ohio when we have warm days in the winter we often get school delays for fog the next morning.

The fields were snug under their own blankets.

My Ohio Collage Paintings at MacDowell Gallery

Rusty Roof  8 x 10 - Collage on canvas panel
I am currently the featured artist at the MacDowell Gallery located at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.
Twenty paintings of my favorite subject - farms and barns and beautiful skies! - will be on exhibit until the end of December.

About THE MACDOWELL GALLERY
Located on the second floor of Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, the MacDowell Gallery showcases approximately six regional artists or special events each year.  The gallery primarily features oils, watercolors, mixed media and photography.
“As patients, families and visitors walk this Reid campus, art plays an essential role in the calming atmosphere we strive to create,” says Foundation Director, JasonTroutwine.  “Most people at Reid are dealing with serious issues.  Art, piano, and gardens seem to provide a brief escape.”
The gallery, named for the former CEO of Reid Hospital, Barry MacDowell, is administered by Edward Thornburg, Adjunct Professor of Art at Indiana University East.
Gallery hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

All Better Now

The results!
Another lampshade restoration!
It's about time to add the title "Lamp Lady" to my website!

The top shade was broken.  Restoration was a matter of matching the color choices and painting style of the previous artist - so in this case imitation was a good thing!  Again using the Pebeo 150 Glass Paints, I mixed a match to the original floral design and also used a little white and Pebeo 150 matte medium to make the paint slightly opaque.

In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary.

Watercolor Sketch

Although this year the weather is dry and the grass is brown I can always paint flowers that are alive and blooming.

Starting with this...painted paper

I create this...torn and cut paper collage on canvas.
This farm can be seen from Carthagena Rd. near Ft. Recovery, Ohio... early spring, before the fields were planted.

This fall I will be showing and selling paintings at the first Artisan Showcase at the New Bremen Pumpkinfest, Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012.
Something new for me...more to come!

A Special Lamp Gets a New Shade

Some days I never know what I will be working on next!
This beautiful lamp had the original hand painted top shade broken
and the owner wanted to have a replacement painted.  I had never painted on glass before but thought I would give it a try.  I used Pebeo 150 glass paints on a hand blown frosted shade and then baked it in my oven for a permanent finish.

The owner said it brought tears to her eyes to see it restored.
